PLANNED GIVING GIFTS TO LINDEN HALL
Bequests
—Bequest commitments are the ultimate expression of faith in the progress of Linden Hall. Donors may designate a fixed amount for the school or a percentage of their estate in their will. They may also bequest property or the residue of the estate to the school. Please contact the Advancement Office for assistance.
Charitable Gift Annuities
—Both outright and deferred Charitable Gift Annuities, funded with cash or other assets, pay a fixed income to a donor (or donors) for life. A lawyer or financial advisor will assist you with setting up your gift annuity.
Charitable Remainder Trust
—Charitable Remainder Trusts provide annual income to a beneficiary or beneficiaries for life or for a term of years. They are more complex than the charitable gift annuity but more flexible for meeting the donor’s needs as well. Trusts can be funded with a variety of assets. A lawyer will assist you in drawing up this trust.
Charitable Lead Trust
—A Charitable Lead Trust provides annual income to the school during the donor’s lifetime while transferring assets to the donor’s heirs. A lawyer will draw up this trust.
Life Estates
—A donor may give her home or other residential or commercial property to the school while retaining the right to live in it for life or a term of years.
Life Insurance Policies
—Policies naming the school as both the owner and the beneficiary will be accepted. The donor must agree to continue paying the premiums, or the policy must have a paid-up cash value. The future premiums paid are deductible as cash contributions. Paid-up policies can also be given to the school, and the donor can deduct the replacement value of the policy.
Retirement Plan Designations
—Individuals can name the school or a charitable trust as the primary or contingent beneficiary of retirement plan vehicles, particularly IRAs and other qualified plans.
