Vincent Stumpo
Headmaster

“As Headmaster of Linden Hall, I have been inspired by our community to the very highest level of my professional career. The responsibility of ensuring that the most historic girls' boarding and day school in the United States also offers one of the finest 21st century educations in the nation is for me an unparalleled honor and a vital duty.”

LuAnn Billett
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“I feel like the luckiest teacher in the world. I teach a subject that I love, in a place that I love, to students that I love."

Judy Conlin
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“When girls come to Linden Hall, they quickly learn that it is okay to be challenged academically, it is okay to ask questions, and it is okay to try new things. And they do. They come to love the challenge, to explore the new, and to build lifelong friendships that span the world.”

Mary Cuba
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

"Linden Hall challenges each girl to be their personal best in a small environment where opportunities to achieve abound."

Sara Fenske
Science Department Chair and Science Teacher

Dennis Foreman
Faculty, Upper School Dorm Director

“One of my favorite spots on campus is the Connecting Bridge, the hallway that leads from the Annex to the Business Offices. The photos of graduating classes from the 1860's to the present wallpaper this space. From the western windows, I can see the past – the Castle, Moravian Square – and I'm reminded of the role of the Moravians and their vision for educating young women of all backgrounds. From the eastern windows, many new improvements to the campus can be seen developing before my eyes! It is exciting to be part of a living, vital institution that recognizes and is proud of its history, but is dynamically seeking to challenge and motivate for the future.”

Linda Gillingham
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“I have not only watched my students grow physically, challenge themselves academically, and mature emotionally in the nurturing environment of Linden Hall, but I have also developed both personally and professionally as well. Linden Hall is a place where all strive to be the best that they can be!”

Sonya Hutchison
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“If someone asked me to write a synonym for Linden Hall, I would immediately say ‘home.’"

Ligeia Jennis
Faculty, Resident Dorm Parent

"What strikes me most about Linden Hall is how well it engages the whole person. The girls here are students and part of a larger family. Lots of places talk about lifelong learning and teaching to the whole child. Linden Hall puts those words into real, every day action in the classroom and, importantly, beyond the classroom. As faculty, we see the girls at meals, in study halls, during on and off campus activities, with their teammates at games or their dorm mates at sleepovers... We engage the whole student because we see them beyond the classroom and the students are able to see us that way as well, not just as teachers but also as lifelong learners and parents and whole people. In the small, family atmosphere of Linden Hall, we all learn from and engage one another.”

Jennifer Merris-Dolk
Director of Riding

“I am a proud graduate of Linden Hall. The day I left this school it was like leaving a dear friend that gave me so much. I was well-armed with all of the tools I needed to succeed in life. I was confident, well-spoken, educated, and ready to face the world and conquer my dreams. One afternoon I received a phone call with a job offer to teach riding at my alma matter, I jumped at the chance. Coming back to work here was like coming home, and coming back to my family.”

Lynn Millard
Director of Music

Linden Hall allows girls to grow musically, artistically, and academically into tomorrow's leaders.

Linda Mummert
Director of Athletics, Faculty

“Linden Hall Athletics. . . . . YOU have the opportunity to make a difference!”

Heather Pasewicz
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“At Linden Hall, every girl matters, and every parent matters too. We listen and respond to their cares and concerns. I am excited about enrolling my daughters here.”

Claudia Prosack
Faculty, Resident Dorm Parent

“One of my objectives has always been to share my love of language learning with the students I teach. I like to instill in my students my passion, excitement and love of the Spanish language and its culture! I like to create an environment, my classroom, where my students can feel as if they are in a Spanish speaking country. With our small class sizes, each student can participate in speaking Spanish daily! It is always a pleasure for me to hear my students speak in Spanish and then later in college to study and or major in Spanish.”

James Rothwell
Faculty, Resident Dorm Parent

“As an educator I am proud to be a teacher at a school that has adopted the National Science Teachers Association Physics First Curriculum (http://www.nsta.org/). Though this is a reversal in order from the 20th century way of approaching science education, research has shown that it allows students to focus on material that makes intuitive sense from their real world experiences. This then builds a solid foundation of scientific principles that can be used to extend their accumulated knowledge of motion and forces into the realms of electromagnetism and the nature of the atom. Subsequent courses focus those physics concepts into a solid understanding of the field of chemistry, and getting to the core of molecular biology and genetics where you look at the behavior of macromolecules and life. This 21st century approach to science education creates students equipped to analyze and think like scientists in their learning as well as their life, helping them reach the goal of learning for life that is the hallmark of everything we teach at Linden Hall.”

Hui-Ling Singer
Mandarin Chinese Instructor

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon on April 27th this year (2008). My husband, Tom Singer, was drumming for an African dance class at Linden Hall. My daughter, Joy, and I went along. I immediately fell in love with the campus as we got out of the car and walked toward the dance studio. I thought to myself that it would be great to teach Chinese classes here, not only because I loved the environment, but also because it was only few minutes away from home. A week later, I got a phone call from a friend of mine about the teaching opportunity here at Linden Hall. She asked me if I would like to take this opportunity. Of course I said, "Yes." I give thanks to the Universe that answered my call so quickly, and I am looking forward to this wonderful adventure.

Pamela Smith
Faculty, Resident Dorm Parent

“Linden Hall, a special world of its own, will help you reach the world of your heart’s desire.”

Janice Snyder-Hess
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“One of the pleasures of teaching various levels of English at Linden Hall is witnessing the growth of thinking and writing as the girls mature.”

Kenneth Trani
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“To appreciate language and use it correctly are two of the most valuable skills a student can acquire. As an English teacher, I strive to help students reach these goals, as well as to introduce them to some of the greatest literature Western Civilization has produced -- often works of literature I wish that I myself had had the opportunity to study in high school but did not encounter until later, frequently on my own."

Carolyn Vaughan
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“What is so special about Linden Hall is that we are all in this together. The girls are friends first without regard to what grade they are in. An 8th grader can be friends with a 10th grader or a senior. This across the board friendship creates a wonderful core for learning. “

Nora Workman
Faculty, Dorm Assistant

“Linden Hall celebrates individuality and encourages each student to find their passion.”

Christie Nickey
Faculty, Dorm Assistant
